Sanjay Joshi honored by Society Global Indian Icon Awards

On July 10, 2019, Wonderland Montessori CEO & Founder Sanjay Joshi, with his family, attended the Society Global Indian Icon Awards as an honoree, presented in collaboration with Meera Ganhdi and the Giving Back Foundation

Society Magazine annually honors and celebrates prominent Indian-born success stories. The 2019 award presentation was in London, at the Hotel Montcalm, and included a Thought Leadership Forum.

The inspirational panel included fellow honoree Shabana Azmi, who appeared in over 120 independent and mainstream films, and is a social and women's right activist. She works as a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Population Fund and holds a nominated membership in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of India's parliament. Azmi was joined by her husband, Javed Akhtar, iconic screenwriter, lyricist and poet.

Meera Gandhi, global humanitarian and the founder of the Giving Foundation, spoke to the transformative impact that can be offered to people around the world through collaborative effort. The panel was rounded out by Dr. Kartar Lalvani, founder of Vitabiotics and UK-based entrepreneur Atul Pathak.

Sanjay was presented with an award for Excellence in the Field of Education by Gopichand Hinduja, the co-chairmen of the Hinduja group, and one of Britain’s most successful businessmen.

His acceptance speech captured his inspiring vision for the Montessori communities that he leads, and invited attendees to discover the wonder of the Montessori method.

“In a world of growing atrocities, educating thoughtful global citizens who are empathetic to the needs of every human should be the number one priority of every educator and public servant in the world. The world we leave behind is only as strong as the children we have nurtured to sustain it.

Montessori education is a century-old global phenomenon. Montessori teaches children to speak out against injustice, to use their skills and their voice to help others. It’s empowers them to solve problems they might not think they can solve, and to dream dreams they might not think they can dream.

Montessori education inspires not only the children who experience it, but the parents and teachers who witness the transformative power it gives children. The intrinsic knowledge that they are good enough, strong enough, competent enough to make a difference.

Thank you for recognizing our commitment to making Montessori education more accessible to our future. Thank you to my wife, family, and the Wonderland Montessori team, for helping to make my dream a reality.”

Congratulations to Sanjay, for the recognition and honor from Society Magazine!
